Burglars, dogs and parks.....oh my!

The girls with our new furry family member "CODY"

Hello all!
It's been a few days since I've done some updating. I knew I wouldn't be able to keep up the pace of posting every day. If I'm able to post a few times a week that will be a miracle :) Anyway after the toilet saga and Emma's birthday, had a pretty normal weekend. On Monday Morgan's Brownie troop got to go to Build A Bear workshop for a reward for great cookie sales. After we dropped Morgan off, the younger 2 and I went to the soccer store to get some supplies. Princess Emma has decided that she wants to play soccer in the fall, so we need to find her some cleats. Now keep in mind.....she has Pink cleats, Pink tie dye socks, Pink shin guards, Pink shorts and a Pink shirt. I swear the girl does princess like none other! Anyway, while we are looking at shoes in this little soccer store (small place in a strip mall) a man comes in robs the store! Yep, that my friends is just how the last few weeks have been going. Now before anyone conjures up scenes from a movie......the girls and I are FINE......he didn't have any weapon that I could see.....and it all happened so fast my head should have spun. Needless to say we were all a little freaked out. Emma bless her heart asked the police officer why Jesus would make a bad man like that. It was quite a learning moment for us and I explained to her about free will and sin. I think she understood, but it's a lot to grasp when your 6 and you see the world thru rose colored glasses.
Anywhoo, after the whole burglary thing, Don and I get to talking about how unsettling it is to realize that the girls and I are here in this little house all by ourselves. We live in a safe area with great neighbors, but bad things do happen. We decided to begin the search again for a dog that was out of the puppy stage, but still young enough to be around for awhile. I was not hopeful since our last attempt ended up with a pregnant and aggressive female yellow lab. I digress.....anyway after a few days of searching shelter and rescue sites, I ran across an ad for a 3 year old male, black lab named Billy. He had been in foster care for 4 months with a family who had 3 small children. From his bio, Billy sounded PERFECT. Well we went to meet "Billy" yesterday and he is now home with us for good........and his new name is Cody. As you can tell from the pic above, he is awesome with the kids....still a bit shy and reserved.....but sooooo mellow and eager to please. I think this time we have found a great match!! It's nice to have a dog around the house again, although yard cleanup was never a highlight of dog ownership.
Well, this post is getting long, so I'll close for now. Oh the other picture above is the girls on the dock at a local park. We love to sit on the dock and watch the swans. We sure do miss everyone. Take care and I'll chat more soon!

Hey Heather...can I get a pair of those rose colored glasses?

Hope you have fun with your new family member! I hope he works out for you.

Glad everyone is ok...hopefully there won't be any more "bad guys"...and if there is...just tell them that "Jesus wouldn't do that!!!"

Blessings,
Chantel
